New residents are moving into what may be the largest new construction project in Northside's business district since the 1950s.
The $15 million Gantry project has added 131 apartments and 8,000 square feet of commercial space at the corner of Hamilton Avenue and Blue Rock Street. The project's developer, Indianapolis-based Milhaus, is still working to complete the project, but city and community leaders met at the site Friday to applaud Gantry's impact on the neighborhood.
Northside Community Council president Ollie Kroner called the Gantry project an anchor that replaces what had been a vacant lumber yard.
"Milhaus saw the potential of the corner and how deeply Northsiders care about this place," said Kroner, who is also sustainability coordinator for the city of Cincinnati.
Those discussions are still taking place especially when it comes to filling the first-floor retail space. Urban Fast Forward is handling the leasing.
